Why Frozen?

Let’s be honest. Unless you caught it yourself, it’s hard to know when non-frozen seafood was harvested, and often, it’s not as ‘fresh’ as you think. At Aquanita Foods, we use advanced techniques to freeze seafood at its peak freshness, locking in moisture and preserving that just-caught flavor. We employ a method called blast freezing, which rapidly lowers the temperature of seafood to -40 degrees Fahrenheit or lower in a matter of minutes. This process creates smaller ice crystals compared to traditional freezing methods, which prevents cell damage and maintains the texture, taste, and nutritional value of the seafood. Scientifically, blast freezing ensures that the seafood’s quality is protected from the moment it is caught until it reaches your plate, providing you with a product that is as close to fresh as possible. Frozen seafood is also more sustainable. By freezing seafood at its peak freshness, we significantly reduce food waste, as the shelf life is extended, and less product is discarded due to spoilage. This practice supports sustainable fishing practices by allowing for better inventory management and reducing the need for overfishing.
